Going Live on Google Sites

Can be confusing.

You can publish: 

1. without going live and view can be limited to people with the links and edit

2. live web pages are refreshed with a publish

Go Live and Mapping Custom URL 

Open Admin Console, select App /   G suite   /  sites  /  scroll down to Custom URL / Add a new address mapping  by clicking + sign in top right corner/  new sites  / Site Location then type in name of landing page eg ”home”

Then go to New Google sites as editor. 

Go to Publish/PublishSetting

You will see...

https://sites.google.com/mymainaccount.com/....

type in the box mynewsite then the website address changes to

https://sites.google.com/mainaccount.com/mynewsite

Navigate to Landing Page then Publish / View Published Page/  then copy URL of published page which should look something like this

https://sites.google.com/mymaindomain.com/mynewsitee/landingpage
