ELBOW DISLOCATION

MECHANISM OF INJURY

FALL ON OUTSTRETCH ARM for example falling off a motorcyle or bicycle.

Usually arm in extension at the fall, with hypextention of the  elbow at the time of impact resulting in dislocation.

an Xray and assessing neurovascular status before and after MnR. I will then proceed to immobilise the elbow joint with an arm sling and possibly an above elbow splint with elbow kept in 90 degrees flexion.

Recurrent chronic instability of elbow joint. Stiffness of the elbow joint.
Tardy ulnar nerve palsy?????
Associated  fractures?
